Kia EV6 GT crowned World Performance Car of the Year
The Kia EV6 GT has had the honour of being named the 2023 'World Performance Car of the Year' at the World Car Awards.
The EV6 GT fought off stiff competition from other more established premium car manufacturers at the awards ceremony, held during the recent New York International Auto Show. The ultimate recognition for the EV6 GT came from a judging panel of 100 distinguished international automotive journalists representing 32 countries.
With a combined power output of 430kW - the equivalent of 577bph - the EV6 GT can accelerate from 0-62mph in a breathtaking 3.5 seconds. The judges had high praise for its long-range capability, spacious interior, and sophisticated design. This saw the electric EV6 GT triumph over more traditional petrol-powered sports cars.
Built on Kia's Electric-Globular Modular Platform (E-GMP), the EV6 GT has an impressive driving range of 263 miles and an 800V ultra-fast charging time of just 18 minutes!
This award is the latest in a long line for the EV6 GT, which has also been named the Driving Electric 'Best Electric Performance Car', '2022 European Car of the Year', and '2023 North American Utility Vehicle of the Year'.
The EV6 GT is Kia's flagship large EV Crossover, taking the place of the Stinger at Kia's premier Grand Tourer. Kia recently paid tribute to the outgoing Stinger, as the brand's focus turns towards high performance electric cars.
This World Car Award for the EV6 GT further validates the Korean brand's position as one of the global leaders in electrified driving. It is Kia's plan to introduce a total of nine electric vehicles to the UK by 2027. The next one to arrive in Kia showrooms in the stunning seven-seat EV9.
