MG named ‘Carmaker of the Year’ for 2022
MG Motor UK has been named 'Carmaker of the Year' at the recent Motor Trader Industry Awards.
The prestigious award from the UK's longest running vehicle retail magazine is a huge honour. The Motor Trader judges highlighted MG's highly impressive sales performance in 2022 as a major factor in their decision.
MG registered 43,061 cars between January and October this year - a massive 64.4% increase on the same period in 2021. This comes as no surprise as MG have bolstered their impressive line-up of affordable electric cars in 2022.
There is an MG electric vehicle to suit all needs and tastes, and they all feature MG Pilot - MG's package of smart safety features.
The MG4 EV is a stunning hot hatch, looking absolutely awesome in Volcanic Orange. Launching in the UK in September and has been met with rave reviews for its design and performance, and starts at just £26,995. It looks great, drives even better, and has its market rivals looking on in envy at its phenomenal driving range from a single charge.
The all-new MG5 EV has recently had a facelift. The fully electric estate is perfect for long journeys with plenty of room for luggage, camping equipment, and even a four-legged friend.
The ZS EV has been MG's most popular electric car. As an SUV, it effortlessly combines style with practicality, and was named Affordable Electric Car of the Year earlier this year.
MG has prided itself on maximising the driving range of its electric vehicles to quell any range anxiety. This is especially important if the charging infrastructure in your area isn't the best.
The panel of judges commented: “MG Motor has a range of well-priced EV models which are achieving strong sales in the UK.”
Guy Pigounakis, Commercial Director at MG Motor UK, was presented with the award. He commented: “We have made significant steps to make EV ownership far more affordable and deliver cars that are enjoyable to own and drive, so we're delighted this has been recognised.
“Receiving such positive feedback from Motor Trader and the industry professionals who do so much to support us is an encouraging sign that MG is heading in the right direction.”
It was a fantastic night for Chapelhouse Motor Group too, who also collected an award at the event.

The ceremony was held at Park Lane's Grosvenor House in London. It is now in its 32nd year and has grown to become one of the most prestigious and well-respected industry awards ceremonies in the UK motor retail industry. The awards go to recognise the highest level of professionalism and excellence that the motor retail sector has to offer.
